Inland port network coming to Mississippi River

Multi-state effort to develop container facility network along the Mississippi River. Initial cargo anticipated to move through the network in 2024. Effort has many moving pieces, which is why it took nearly a decade to develop the network. It includes a terminal and rail expansion in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. Hawtex is taking on additional land for container terminals in Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas and possibly Illinois.

The company's expansion plans could be expanded in phases as market demand warrants. It hopes to develop terminals that can handle both import and inland distribution of containerized cargo.
