REIT Takeovers on Pace for Another Record Year, but Rising Interest Rates Loom
The beginning of the article says it all. The record for REIT acquisitions was shattered in 2021 with $99B in volume. So far this year, there's already been $71B of REIT takeouts completed or in the works. The market is hot and stock sell offs are fueling acquisitions. We'll have to see how interest rates and a looming recession impact this.
